Student Services

Each campus has its own Student Services office to help you register for courses, understand the rules for staff and students at Northern, find forms you may need to complete, and reward you with credit for courses you have finished before. Most services can be accessed online in the Student Portal or you can see us in person on campus if you would prefer that.

Advising Services

We have excellent Advising Serviceswith zero or little wait times to meet any needs you might have as a student. Advisors are standing by to offer one-on-one or group support to you as a student in a safe, accepting, professional and highly confidential environment. We are also here to improve your College student experience with a balance of fun, engaging and educational strategies.

鶹Ӿ Services works with students with disabilities to provide learning strategies, accommodations, assistive technology, study spaces and other resources to help you succeed in your studies.

Financial Assistance

Our Financial Aid Officers are here to help you with student loan programs like OSAP, external bursary applications, our own internal Scholarships, Bursaries, & Awards, and other financial matters to help you fund your education.

Student Life

Our 鶹Ӿ Student Association (NCSA) chapters at the Haileybury, Kirkland Lake, and Timmins Campuses are student-led groups that are dedicated to empowering student success in all aspects of student life during your period of study and after graduation. Student Life Advisors are here to support you with fun activities and events to make your 鶹Ӿ experience even better! Be sure to reach out and join in to make the most of your time with us – you won’t regret it!

Campus Facilities

Each of Northern’s campuses boasts workout and training facilities, a gym, cafeteria, study areas and a library. There are places that you can go to help keep you focused as you work your way through your studies as well as other gathering spots to meet up with others and have some fun.

ܰTimmins Campus ResidenceԻHaileybury Campus Residence are available for students to live at during their studies. If you are looking for off-campus housing in these communities instead or at our other campus locations that don’t have on-campus residence,we haveOff-Campus Housingresources to make your search for an apartment rental as easy as possible.

Employment Services

Whether you’re looking for a job, changing careers, or returning to school, our Community Employment Services offers a wide range of resources which can help you reach your goals such as job search assistance, job matching and placement, job retention support and follow-ups.

We know that as a student you will need both physical and mental health services to be your best self.

Our Health & Wellness services are available for all students to secure support at the college and in the community.

Student Health Insurance Benefits are issued through and *.

View your account online, access your benefits, submit claims, opt-out and more.

All full-time registered students are automatically enrolled. To opt-out of benefits, you can do so online as long as you have coverage by another provider.

*Staring Septmber 2024, international student health insurance coverage is through StudyInsured. More details will be available soon.

Campus Safety

Your safety on-campus and as a student is important. Documents such as Emergency Procedures, Sexual Assault & Violence Policy, Respectful College Policy, and other Academic Policies are designed to keep you safe.

Mental Health

If you are facing challenges with your mental health, ourMental Health Advisor offers services and support to navigate referrals and strategies to help and ensure you are never alone with these stressors.

Fitness & Athletics

Keeping your body active is important to your academic success. Each of our campuses is equipped with exercise rooms, a gymnasium, and athletic programming that are free for students.

Nutrition & Cafeterias

Each of our campuses are equipped with common areas and cafeterias to meet with classmates to eat. The Timmins Campus Chartwell Cafeteria offers fresh and ready-made meals and meal plans.

Everything you need to excel in the classroom

Most information about your studies will be found in Blackboard or directly from your instructors. Have questions that you can’t find online? Connect with your Program Coordinator or email your instructor from your 鶹Ӿ email account to get all the answers you are looking for! Be sure to let us know if you need help. The earlier you do this, the better.

Your student ID cards give you access to many benefits on-campus including use of our athletic facilities and services at our libraries (such as checking-out books), as well as to services in the community, such as discounted transit passes and student events (like free swims, trivia nights, skating, and other activities in the community!) sponsored by our Student Life Advising team and the 鶹Ӿ Student Associations.
